Mehndi

Time: 7:00 - 9:00 PM

Venue: Ocean Breeze Deck

Bonfire

Time: 9:00 - 11:00 PM

Venue: Beach Section 2

The Mehndi is a cherished South Asian tradition where intricate henna designs are applied to the hands and feet of the bride and guests. Henna is a symbol of beauty, joy, love, and celebration, and is believed to bring blessings, happiness, and good fortune as we begin the wedding festivities. Guests are invited to enjoy the artistry, music, and the opportunity to take part in this beautiful cultural experience.

As the evening continues, we will gather around the Bonfire for a magical night under the stars. The fire symbolizes warmth, unity, and the beginning of our wedding journey together. Featuring fire performances, music, and meaningful moments shared among family and friends, this will be an intimate and unforgettable start to our celebrations.

We know many of you will be arriving and settling in, so we have intentionally kept this evening relaxed and shorter in duration, giving everyone the opportunity to unwind, rest, and enjoy the beautiful week ahead.

Dress Code: White resort chic / festive casual. White attire is encouraged in either traditional or western styles. Please keep it comfortable, elegant, and breathable.

Jago and Sangeet

Join us for an evening of vibrant Punjabi traditions, music, delicious food, and celebration as we gather with our family and friends to create unforgettable memories together.

Time: 7:00 PM

Venue: Skypool Terrace

The Jago is a traditional Punjabi celebration that dates back generations and symbolizes spreading the excitement and happiness of the upcoming wedding. The word Jago means “wake up,” representing the community coming together to celebrate and share the joy of the occasion. Traditionally, family members would carry a beautifully decorated jago (a decorated vessel adorned with lights) while singing and dancing from home to home, inviting everyone to join in the festivities. Today, the tradition continues with dhol, music, dancing, and joyful celebrations as we gather to celebrate the beginning of our wedding festivities.

The Sangeet is a special evening dedicated to music, dance, and bringing both families together. Rooted in Punjabi culture, the Sangeet was traditionally an intimate gathering where family and friends sang folk songs and celebrated the couple. Today, it has evolved into a lively celebration featuring music, dancing, laughter, and moments shared between loved ones. It is an opportunity for our families and friends to connect, celebrate our union, and create memories together before the big day.

We can’t wait to share this unforgettable evening with you — a celebration of love, culture, family, and the traditions that bring us together.

Dress Code: Festive South Asian attire. Bright, vibrant colors are encouraged!

The Choora Ceremony is a special tradition where the bride receives her ceremonial bangles, which are put on by her maternal family. The choora symbolizes love, blessings, and the beginning of the bride’s new chapter as she prepares for marriage. It is a heartfelt moment surrounded by family and friends, filled with emotion and joy.

OUR LOVE STORY

CAPTURED MOMENTS

Akhil and Bhavna’s love story begins from their college days. Akhil tried multiple times to get Bhavna’s attention and ultimately failed. Fast forward a few years, and fate decided to give it another shot. Akhil was invited to Bhavna’s 21st birthday, and in true Akhil fashion, he didn’t hold back. Confidently, he asked Bhavna if she’d be his plus one for the evening. What she didn’t know was that she was signing up to be his plus one for the rest of her life. They spent their whole first year just as “friends” , or as inside joke they used to call each other “fam”. Turns out, Bhavna had a crush on Akhil since high school but she was playing hard to get….for YEARS!!

Through their first year of being “friends,”, Bhavna was completing her MBA and Akhil was trying to get into Dental School. They built such a deep friendship and connection, that they became inseparable. Study sessions became dinners, dinners became late night phone calls, late night phone calls became all night phone calls. Their feelings grew and slowly but surely, they fell in love.

Eventually, a whole year later on Valentine’s Day, Akhil asked Bhavna to be his girlfriend (huge mistake, very expensive day).

From then on, their connection continued to deepen. Through every phase of life, building their careers, laughs, and all the growing pains, Bhavna and Akhil stuck by each other. Finally, after 7 years of being “fam”, as Akhil graduated Dental school, he knew that he had to make sure Bhavna knew how important she was to him. He saved for years to buy Bhavna’s engagement ring and was finally able to propose — thank god she said yes!

AND NOW! Bhavna and Akhil are throwing their BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDING in Cancun Mexico and are officially becoming Mr. & Mrs. “Fam”. They couldn’t imagine starting this new chapter of their lives without you by their side.
